SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State women's tennis team played host to the University of Pittsburgh Wednesday morning on the Tiger Tennis Courts in Savannah. SSU fell 0-7 to Pittsburgh.
In singles action, senior
Esmira Gheisary fell 0-6 in the opening set to Kimmy Borza, but continued to fight in the second set, losing 4-6. In the first court,
Sandra Kristjansdottir fell to Taylor Washington 1-6 and 2-6.
SSU newcomer
Andrea Pavlovic fell in straight sets to Jocelyn Lu 0-6 and 0-6.
Nicole Ashiedu dropped the fourth court 1-6 and 2-6. In the fifth position,
Davita Washington fell to Molly Wickman 0-6 and 0-6.
Tiffany Williams retired the sixth court to Karma Parbhu.
In double's action, the Savannah State team of Kristjansdottir and Ashiedu fell to Lu and Washington 1-8 in the first court. Playing in the second position, Gheisary and Pavlovic fell to sisters Amanda and Molly Wickman, 0-8.
Rounding out the doubles play, Washington and Williams fell to Borza and Parbhu 0-8 in the third court.
The Lady Tigers fall to 2-10 on the season, while Pittsburgh improves to 6-6. SSU returns to action against Quinnipiac University in Orlando, Florida March 14. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
