JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Savannah State men's golf team finished in seventh place at the 2013 Don Benbow Golf Invitational, hosted by Butler University in Jacksonville, Florida on Tuesday.
The Tigers finished with a two-day team score of 603 (297-306). Sophomore
Travis Roe led the Tigers with a fourth place finish and a two-day score of 143 (71-72).
Mitch Johnson and
Ryan Lassiter tied for 16
th with a 149.
After the first round, Roe and Lassiter led the overall field, each shooting a 71 on day one. Caleb Simmons finished the tournament with a 162, followed by
Brandon Neals with a 164.
Florida Atlantic University won the overall team competition with a 582 (289-293), followed by Bethune-Cookman, who shot a team score of 586. Overall, 15 teams participated in the invitational.
Cleveland State's Andrew Bailey and Bethune-Cookman's Ryan Fricker split the individual medalist honors, each shooting a 141.
The Tigers return to action in the Florida A&M Spring Invitational in Tallahassee, Florida March 22-24.
