Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- A late rally fell short as the Savannah State men's basketball team lost their eighth game in a row, after a 68-51 setback from the Miami Hurricanes.

The Tigers fell behind by as many as 24 points in the second half but made a late push with a 17-5 run to get within 12 with just over six minutes left.

The crowd of 3,370 watched as the Hurricanes closed the contest with a 13-8 spurt.

Savannah State fell to 2-10 with the loss.

Freshman guard
Jeremiah Hill came off the bench to carry the Tigers with 14 points, making four 3-pointers.

The Tigers raced out to a early 7-4 lead following a layup from
Alante Fenner and a 3-pointer and a jumper by Devan Williams.

Miami (6-5) answered with a 20-7 run to go ahead 24-14 with 6:31 left in the half.

A NBA-range 3-pointer by Hill cut the Tigers deficit to seven but Miami ended the half with a 13-3 surge.

Miami, the defending ACC champs, led 37-20 at intermission.

SSU opened the second period with a dunk from
Jyles Smith but the Hurricanes struck back with a 13-4 run to build a 50-26 cushion with 15:43 remaining.

Led by a jumper, layup and a free throw by
Marcus Hutchins, the Tigers roared back with a 17-5 run to get within 55-43 with 6:03 remaining but could not get any closer.

Williams scored eight points for SSU while Smith added seven points and six rebounds.
Joshua Montgomery also had seven points and
Terel Hall dished out five assists.

SSU shot 48.1 percent from the field in the second half and 39.2 percent for the game.

Donnavan Kirk led four Hurricanes in double figures with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Miami out-rebounded SSU 34 to 21 while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor.

Savannah native Rion Brown added 13 points and five assists for Miami.
