Box Score FAYTETTEVILLE, Ark.- Arkansas broke open a close game with a 12-2 run and went on to defeat Savannah State 72-43 before a crowd 11,449 at Bud Walton Arena.

The Razorbacks led 27-25 at the half and SSU kept the game close in the first minutes of the second period.

After a dunk by
Hikeem Champaigne, Savannah State trailed 31-29 with 17:11 on the clock.

Arkansas answered with seven straight points as part of a 12-2 run that put the Razorbacks ahead 43-31 with 10:44 remaining.

A pair of free throws by
Saadiq Muhammad would get the Tigers within 10 but a 3-pointer by Arkansas' Alandise Harris started a 23-6 run that put the Tigers away and gave UA a commanding 66-39 lead with 1:32 on the clock.

Savannah State (2-9), who lost their seventh straight game, shot 25.9 percent from the field in the second half and 31.4 percent for the game.

Alante Feener and Devan Williams each scored 10 points for SSU while Muhammad and
Jyles Smith tallied five rebounds apiece.

Arkansas out-rebounded the Tigers 48 to 35.

SSU's only lead came in the early moments of the contest when Fenner opened the game with a 3-pointer at the 17:29 mark.

The first half was close and Arkansas' biggest lead was five points with just under eight minutes on the clock.

Savannah State trailed 26-22 with two minutes left but a jumper and a free throw by Williams pulled the Tigers within 26-25 with 54 seconds left.

Rashad Madden had 21 points for the Razorbacks (7-2) while Bobby Portis added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Arkansas shot 43.5 percent from the field for the game.
