The Savannah State men's basketball team is poised and ready to open the 2013-14 season at the University of Pittsburgh on Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m. Led by head coach Horace Broadnax, the Tigers return eight letterman and have seven newcomers making their SSU debuts. SSU finished last season with a 19-15 overall record and earned a post season spot in the College Insider Tournament.  The Tigers were also ranked 4th in scoring defense and 4th in 3-point field goal defense. SSU was 14th in total steals and steals per game.

Quick Notes
- The Tigers and Panthers have met only one other time...SSU fell to Pitt 35-87 at the Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
- The last time the SSU basketball played in Pittsburgh, Pa. was  on December 5, 2009 when SSU loss, 44-58, to Duquesne in the Palumbo Center.

- The Tigers are 7-1 in season openers in the Broadnax era. Their only season opening loss was at Coach Broadnax's alma mater, Georgetown, in 2011.

- In his 9th season, head coach Horace Broadnax is SSU's second longest tenured basketball coach.  He is also 3rd in wins with 105.

The Tigers will wrap up their weekend in Pennsylvania at Robert Morris on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Tigers will take on the Colonials for the second consecutive season. Last season, SSU defeated Robert Morris 61-52 at home.
