SAVANNAH, Ga. – In their sixth Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game, Savannah State struggled to overcome a first half run from Bethune-Cookman, falling 41-50 to the Lady Wildcats in Tiger Arena, Monday evening.

Erin Hogue led the Lady Tigers in the loss with her eighth (fifth consecutive) double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Blessing Uba followed with nine points and six rebounds.
Andrietta Thomas added nine points.
Teams tied the game four times in the opening minutes. With 10:16 to play,
Andrietta Thomas hit a jump shot for a 12-all score.
Bethune-Cookman proceeded on a 12-2 run in the following six minutes. Cookman's Chastity Taylor drained a jumper for a 26-14 Lady Wildcats lead with 4:55 to play.
Turnovers plagued the Lady Tigers, as the team committed 17 in the opening half. SSU shot 26.9 percent from the floor in the first half, and 100 percent from the charity strip (4-for-4).
Hogue added a layup at the 3:07 mark after a grabbing a rebound off a missed layup from
Andrietta Thomas to cut the visitors lead to 26-16.
Jasmine Kirkland grabbed her own rebound and sank the put back, beating the buzzer for a 27-18 score into the locker room.
Bethune-Cookman shot 36.7 percent from the floor, but managed to hit only 3-of-13 (23.1 percent) free-throws.
Trailing by 12 four minutes into the second period, the Lady Tigers went on a 6-0 run, sparked by jump shot from
Blessing Uba.
Jazmin Thomas sealed off the run with two good free-throws to cut the visitors lead to six points, 32-26, with 13:12 to play.
Bethune-Cookman responded with a 9-0 run that was capped with a jumper from Taylor for the visitors largest lead, 41-26, with eight minutes to play.
Uba dropped two free-throws a few seconds later to start an 8-0 run that cut Bethune-Cookman's lead to 41-34. Despite the Lady Tigers effort, the Lady Wildcats extended their lead to 13 points a couple of minutes later. Cookman sealed up the win by keeping SSU from getting within nine points of their lead in the remaining minutes.
SSU falls to 6-13 overall and 1-5 in the MEAC. Bethune-Cookman improves to 8-9 and 3-2 in the conference. The Lady Tigers shot 26.9 percent overall from the floor and 80 percent (12-for-15) from the free-throw line. Cookman shot at a 30 percent clip and ended with a 47.6 (10-of-21) free-throw percentage.
The Lady Tigers return to action this Saturday against South Carolina State in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
