Pair of Freshmen to Represent SSU at USATF Junior Outdoor Championship

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State Outdoor Track and Field freshmen, Cameron Hall and Justin Taylor have qualified for the USA Track and Field (USATF) Junior Outdoor National Championship in Bloomington, Ind., from Friday June 15 through Sunday June 17.

Hall, a St. Mary's, Georgia native, will compete in the 110 meter hurdles on Friday at 4:05 p.m. Hall qualified for the race with a 14.34 time at the Georgia Tech Invitational on May 11 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Taylor will compete in the triple jump on Saturday, June 16 at 6:10 p.m. The Albany, Georgia native qualified for the competition during the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship with a distance of 49.1.

The USATF has been in operation since 1878 (then called the Amateur Athletic Union) and has become the national governing body for track and field, and long-distance running in the United States.

The not-for-profit organization helps to establish grassroots programs, such as the Junior Olympics, develop Team USA for the Olympics, promotes programs of training and competition for all ages, helps to establish and enforce rules, and sanctions more than 4,000 events each year.
