GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Savannah State women's outdoor track and field team broke two school records Saturday in the final day of the Florida Relay's, while the Savannah State men's outdoor team finished strong in several relay events.
The relay team of
Asia Stinson,
Amara Jones,
Aleah Hordges and
Chavonta Roberts set a new school record in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 46.42, finishing 28th overall. The team of Hordges,
Jazy Seay-Blane, Chavonta and Jones also set a new mark in the 4x400 with a time of 3:43.92, finishing 25th.
On the men's side, the team of
Gregory Terrell,
Cameron Hall,
Darrius Baker and Chazwyn Prince captured an 8th place finish in the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:24.05.
The team of Baker, Prince, Hall and
Eric Plump finished 16th in the 4x100m relay with a time of 40.87. In the 4x400m the team of Price, Etchien Assinzo,
Lemaar Shakir and Hall placed 25th with a time of 3:13.40. Times for the 4x100 and 4x400 are the best the Tigers have ran in the last five years.
In the opening day of events, Hall finished 34th in the 110m hurdles setting a new personal best record of 14.45.
Ruben Isreal-McBee placed 26th in the 5000m run on Friday with a time of 15:23.74. In the 100m run Plump placed 35th with a time of 10.58, followed by Baker who finished 48th with a time of 10.68.
For the women, Jones finished 13th in the 200m dash with a time of 52.79 on Friday, followed by Seay-Blane who finished 61 with a time of 57.19. Jones also finished 13th in the 400m on Friday with a time of 23.88.
The annual Florida Relays are hosted by the University of Florida. Including Savannah State, 10 full University teams participated, as well as individuals from over 30 different Universities.
The Savannah State continues the outdoor track and field season with a visit to Rock Hill, South Carolina on April 13 for the Carolina Cup.
