Lady Tigers Wrap-Up 2012 Tennis Season

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State women's tennis team ended the 2012 season Friday at the new Tiger Tennis complex with a 0-7 loss to Presbyterian College.

Savannah State finishes the season 3-13 overall and 0-6 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, in the first year of conference competition.

The Lady Tigers also honored senior and four year veteran Shannon Howard. Howard has been the team captain for the last two years.

On the number one singles court, Paige Oelke downed Savannah State's Sandra Kristjansdottir in two sets 6-2 and 6-1. In the second court, Lady Tiger Esmira Gheisary was defeated by Cara Caruso 6-1 and 6-2. 

Savannah State freshman Nicole Ashiedu, MEAC top performer for the week ending April 5, fell to Patricia Alves 6-0 and 6-0. At the number four position, Presbyterian College's Caroline DeLoach downed Chandel McDonie 6-0 and 6-0.

In the fifth court Savannah State's Ge'Anne Hilton was beat by Lindsay Krause in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-1, while Davita Washington fell to Lucia Leahy 6-1 and 6-0 in the six spot.

In doubles action, the team of Kristjansdottir and Ashiedu fell 8-4 to Oelke and Alves. In the number two position, Krause and Caruso beat Gheisary and McDonie 8-0. In the third court, Washington and Hilton were beat 8-2 by Deloach and Leahy.
