BALTIMORE, Md. – The Savannah State women's tennis team picked up its third win of the season Monday against Coppin State University, as they downed the Lady Eagles 7-0. In the second game of the day the Lady Tigers dropped a close Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match to Norfolk State University, 2-4.
Savannah State is 3-12 overall and 0-6 in MEAC play. The Lady Tigers will conclude the regular season with a home match against Presbyterian on April 6.
In singles match Savannah State's
Sandra Kristjansdottir downed Katherine Chisholm in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-0. Playing on the second court, junior Esmira Gheisery downed Lauretta Mukam 6-1, and 7-5. Freshman
Nicole Ashiedu beat Sharise Coppin 6-0, 6-0 in the third court.
Chandel McDonie, playing in the fourth court, beat Jennifer Mitchell in a tie-breaker third set 10-4 after beating Mitchell 6-2 in the first set and losing 3-6 in the second set.
Ge'Anne Hilton beat Janka Schmitt in straight sets 6-4 and 6-4 in the fifth court.

Davita Washington beat Courtney Clark 6-0, 6-0. Washington is 4-1 overall in singles match for the season a team best record. Kristjansdottir follows with a 5-5 overall singles record.
In doubles match, the team of Kristjansdottir and Ashiedu downed Chisholm and Mukam 8-1. In the second court, the team of Gheisary and McDonie beat Mitchell and Coppin 8-2 and in the third spot, the team of Hilton and Howard beat Schmitt and Bindule 8-2.
In the second game of the day, Savannah State fell to Norfolk State in a close 4-2 battle. Doubles matches were cancelled due to impending darkness.
Kristjansdottir beat Rebecca Graff in the number three court in a tie-breaker third set 11-9, after falling in the opening set 5-7 and winning the second 6-2. Playing in the number one spot, Gheisery dropped a close match to Naeemah Brooks in two sets 6-4, and 6-0.
In the second court, Ashiedu lost to Laura Gutierrez 6-2, and 6-3. McDonie fell to Maryna Karuik 6-2, and 6-3. Playing in the fifth court, Hilton fell to Kia Bastiste 6-1, 6-0.
