SSU Softball Falls to Grambling State

CONYERS, Ga. – After a rain delay, Savannah State University opened the Tiny Laster Tournament in Conyers, Ga, Saturday. The Lady Tigers fell 4-1 to Grambling State University.
The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening inning. India Morgan singled to right field and was plated on a single from Chelsea Parrish.

Grambling scored a run in the top of the second inning and added two more in the third to take a 3-1 lead. The score remained the same till Grambling added one more run in the sixth inning, racking up 12 hits against Savannah State's Madison Hedderly.

Hedderly was tagged with the pitching loss after a complete game in the circle, she allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, with 7 strikeouts and no walks. Angela Perez garnered the pitching win after 7 innings on the mound. She allowed 1 earned run on 7 hits with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Megan Uhrman and Morgan led the Lady Tigers at the plate with 2 hits apiece. Latrice Wood and Bridgette Simmons led Grambling State, each going 3-for-4 at the plate.
