NORFOLK, Va.- Savannah State's four game winning streak came to a halt when the Lady Tigers dropped a double header to Norfolk State 6-5 and 3-2 at the NSU Softball Field.
In the first game, SSU trailed 5-4 entering the seventh inning but tied the game when Chelesa Parrish singled and
Mariah Tutt scored on a throwing error.
The Spartans collected three hits in the bottom of the inning and scored the winning run when Nikki Jones hit a RBI single to bring home Meagan Long.
Savannah State led 3-0 after two and a half innings but NSU scored in the second, third and fifth to tie the game.
India Morgan hit a RBI single for SSU in the sixth but Norfolk State scored two in the bottom of the inning to go ahead 5-4.
Morgan had two RBIs and
Shannon Reno scored twice for SSU.
Madison Hedderly struck out seven batters in the loss.
Whitney Holland had three hits and Casey Pomeroy took the win on the mound.
In the second contest, Hedderly and Reno both hit solo home runs for Savannah State (10-20) for their only runs.
Reno hit a homer in the second to give the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead.
NSU scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth to go ahead 3-1 and Hedderly hit her home run in the sixth.
Hedderly had two hits and
Tiffany Davies took the loss on the mound.
Jeanette Sauceda had three hits for the Spartans (7-13) while Alyssa Velaquaz struck out four to get the win.
