SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State rallied from a six-point deficit to tie the game at 47 but Presbyterian scored the final seven points of the game in a 54-47 victory over the Lady Tigers in Tiger Arena.
The loss drops SSU to 11-10 while the Blue Hose improve to 7-15.
PC led 25-24 at the half but started the second period with a 13-4 run to grab a 38-28 cushion with 13:54 on the clock.
Savannah State pulled to within one at the 9:06 mark but a pair of 3-pointers by Kristen Stevens put Presbyterian back up 45-39 with 5:21 left.
SSU answered with a 8-2 spurt to tie the game at 47 with 1:58 remaining.
Savannah State missed five shots from the floor down the stretch.
The Lady Tigers shot 55 percent from the floor in the first half but only 29.2 percent in the second period. Presbyterian shot 50 percent from the field for the game and 42.9 percent from 3-point range.
Darice Fountaine came off the bench to score 14 points for SSU while
Courtney Long added 11.
Savannah State led for much of the first half although never as much as four points.
A layup by
Brittany Cade gave SSU a 22-21 lead with 7:01 left but did not score again until
Alisha Nelson hit a layup with eight seconds left in the first half.
Karlee Taylor led PC with 15 points.
