Ezinne Kalu tossed in 26 points to lead Savannah State to a 60-34 win over Longwood in Tiger Arena.
Kalu also had 6 rebounds and 6 steals as SSU improved to 13-10.
Savannah State jumped out to a 27-13 halftime lead as they held the Lancers to just 18.8 percent shooting in the first period.
The game was tied at four but SSU went ahead 13-7. After a pair of free throws pulled Longwood within four with 8:55 left, SSU finished the half with a 14-4 run to go into the locker room with a 14-point cushion.
SSU scored the first five points of the second half to increase their advantage to 32-13 but six straight points by Longwood cut their deficit to 32-19 with 15:30 on the clock.
Savannah State answered with a 9-0 run to go ahead 41-19 with 12:45 left.
Longwood pulled within 19 but six straight points by SSU gave the Lady Tigers a 47-22 advantage with 7:42 left.
A Kalu layup with three minutes remaining gave SSU their biggest lead of the afternoon, 56-28.
Savannah State shot 44.4 percent from the floor while Longwood made 28 turnovers.
Longwood (6-18) was led by Brittanni Billups' eight points.
