SAVANNAH, Ga.- Maddison Hedderly drove in three runs and
Brittany Wilson scored twice as Savannah State improved to 2-2 with a 9-0 win over Edward Waters in the 2010 SSU Softball Classic at the Paulson Complex.
SSU scored three times in the first, second and fourth innings.
Edward Waters left the bases loaded in the top if the first but could not score.
Savannah State only had one hit in the first inning but
Tiffany Taylor,
Mariah Tutt and
Brittany Wilson were able to score.
Jasmine Brown led off the second with a walk and came home on
Cassie Standard's double. Taylor hit a two run double that scored
Jennifer Katzman and
Brittney Lollis, who both reached base on a fielder's choice, for a 6-0 lead.
In the fourth, SSU added three runs off one hit as Hedderly hit a three-run double that scored Wilson,
Rachel Cuffy and
Crystal Williams to improve their lead to 9-0. Wilson, Cuffy and Williams all drew walks to reach base.
Taylor scored twice for SSU (2-2) and Standard picked up the win on the mound giving up six hits and three walks while striking out two.
Raeshawn Hall had a pair of hits for Edward Waters (0-2). Christiana Holden took the loss as she gave up seven hits and four walks.
