CLEMSON, S.C.- Savannah State opened their 2010-11 indoor track season by participating in the Clemson Orange and Purple Winter Classic.

SSU did not win any events but finished in the top 10 in 16 events.

For the Savannah State women, Jazy Seay-Blane (1:18.67) was 7th in the 500m race, Nakisha Thompson (9.09) was 10th in the 60m hurdles, Amara Jones (38.92) was 3rd in the 300m, Dominique Givance (5:59.90) was 9th in the one mile, Sharonda Redfield (5.48m) was 6th in the long jump and the SSU women were 3rd in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:53.68.

Tyrone McCoy (1:56.96) was 2nd in the men's 800m followed by Miguel Velasquez (1:58.55) who was 5th and Etchein Assinzo (1:59.41) who finished 9th. Darrius Baker (6.97) was 5th in the 60m while Eric Plump (6.99) was 6th. In the 300m race, Chaz Price (35.76) was 4th and Baker (35.94) finished 6th. Ruben Isreal-McBee (4;31.09) was 4th in the one mile while Assinzo (4:44.85) placed 10th. The men's 4x400m relay team was 7th with a time of 3:35.81 and Sahwn Sovenir (6.75) was 6th in the long jump.
