TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Savannah State shot 60 percent from the field in the second half but it would not be enough as the Lady Tigers lost to Florida A&M 60-53 in the Lawson Center.

SSU (8-11) shot 29.2 percent from the floor in first half but warmed up to hit 12-of-20 shots in the second period.

The Lady Tigers trailed by two early in the first half but FAMU scored seven straight points for a 15-6 lead.

SSU was able to get as close as three points before the Rattlers ended the half with a 7-2 run to take a 25-17 lead into the half.

FAMU increased their advantage to 29-17 early in the second half but Savannah State replied with a 10-0 run to close their gap to two points with 16:33 left.

The Rattlers answered SSU's run with a 17-3 run to go ahead 46-30 with just under ten minutes remaining.

SSU chipped away at their 16-point deficit and managed to cut FAMU's lead to 57-53 after a 3-pointer from Kym Stamps and a layup by Courtney Long with just over a minute left.

That would be as close as the Lady Tigers would get as FAMU finished the game with three free throws to improve to 8-3.
