SAVANNAH, Ga.- Trailing 9-1, Savannah State out-scored Albany State 6-2 the rest of the way but it would not be enough as SSU fell 11-6 to the Rams at the Paulson Softball Complex.
ASU scored twice in the top of the first but Savannah State cut their lead in half in the bottom of the inning as
Tiffany Taylor tripled home
Crystal Williams, who reached on a error.
The Rams sent seven runners across the plate in the second inning as Savannah State made three errors.
Albany State (24-22) added another run in the fourth but
Jessica Weimerskirk and
Jasmine Brown each scored unearned runs for SSU.
Both teams scored one run apiece in the fifth and SSU scored twice in the sixth as Alexia Carson hit a RBI triple and Williams hit a RBI single to close out the scoring in the game.
SSU, who extended their losing streak to 14, fell to 14-29.
Taylor had two RBIs for SSU while on the mound,
Rachel West took the loss. West pitched four innings and gave up 11 runs and nine hits.
