FT. VALLEY, Ga.- Ronkeya Garner was the winning pitcher in both games as Division II Fort Valley State swept Savannah State in a double-header at Wildcat Field.

Garner struck out six batters in the 7-4 victory in game on and struck out four in the second game, a 14-8 win for the Wildcats.

Shamyra Adams and Tiffany Taylor scored for SSU in the first inning for a 2-0 lead but the Wildcats went ahead, scoring three times in the second and twice in the third and fourth innings for a 7-2 advantage.

Savannah State added two runs in the top of the seventh. Taylor hit a double that scored Diaymn Woods who led off the inning with a single. Jessica Weimerskirk, who hit a single, scored on a error to make the score 7-4.

Weimerskirk and Brittany Wilson had two hits each and Wilson had two RBI.

Woods took the loss but struck out three batters.

In game two, SSU opened the game scoring five times in the first inning.

Adams walked and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Weimerskirk singled and stole second which put runners on second and third. Back-to-back RBI singles by Brittney Lollis and Taylor made the score 2-0. A single by Wilson drove in Lollis and Taylor and a single by Blaine Ford allowed Wilson to make it 5-0.

Not to be outdone, FVSU answered with two runs in the second inning.

Taylor and Wilson led off the third with back-to-back doubles which made the score 6-3 but in the bottom of the inning, the Wildcats erupted for six runs to go ahead 9-6.

Taylor struck out but reached on a error in the fifth and came home on another double by Wilson to slice the SSU deficit to 9-7. FVSU scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to expand their lead to 14-7.

Savannah State (0-4) added a run in the sixth to make it 14-8.

Wilson went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs while Taylor went 2-for-3 and scored three times.

Rachel West took the loss, giving up nine runs in 3.2 innings.

Garner and Jennifer Jones had four hits each for FVSU (3-1).
