SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Crissa Jackson had a game-high 15 points and
Raven James had 10 rebounds to lift Savannah State to a 45-36 victory over Alabama State in Tiger Arena.
The win improves SSU to 7-3 and gives the Lady Tigers a season sweep over Alabama State.
With Savannah State leading 28-27, the Lady Tigers broke open a close game with a 12-3 run to take a 40-30 lead with 4:18 remaining.
ASU got no closer than seven the rest of the way.
Alabama State struggled in the second half, making 4-of-32 shots from the floor and only one of nine 3-point attempts.
SSU scored the first five points of the game but the Hornets rallied back and took a 10-9 lead with 11:23 on the clock.
The Hornets led 19-18 with 5:30 remaining but a 10-0 run by SSU gave the Lady Tigers a 28-19 edge with 1:17 remaining.
Savannah State led 28-23 at the break.
ASU's Tanika Jackson made a layup with 19:27 left in the second half. The Hornets did not make another field goal until Raven Hicks made a layup with 7:30 remaining.
Savannah State shot 45.8 percent from the field in the opening half but only made 5 of 21 shots in the second period.
Darice Fountaine added nine points for SSU and
Alisha Nelson grabbed eight rebounds and blocked seven shots.
Jackson led ASU (3-5) with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
