CHARLESTON, S.C.- Brandon Javis drove in four runs to lead Savannah State to a 7-2 win over Charleston Southern at Buccaneer Field.
Javis had a RBI single in the first, a sacrifice fly RBI in the second and a two-RBI double in the seventh.
Matt Nowacki added two doubles and David Washington scored twice as the Tigers broke a four-game losing streak to improve to 20-21.
Michael Allegretti earned the win as he pitched six innings and struck out three batters. Although he gave up six hits, he only allowed one run. Chris Chupp pitched two innings in relief and Jarrel Arnold pitched the final inning.
The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead but CSU scored once in the bottom of the second inning.
SSU added two more runs in the seventh to increase their lead to 6-1 and Alfred Arnold scored on a pass ball in the top of the eighth for a 7-1 advantage.
Charleston Southern (15-25) had three hits in the bottom of the ninth but could only score once for the last run of the contest.
