SAVANNAH, Ga.- A week after winning the Georgia Southern Relays, Savannah State won their own Orange and Blue Classic on Saturday at Theodore A. Wright Stadium.
The Tigers dominated the field with 255.5 points to win first place.
Southeastern finished second with 99.5 points followed by Edward Waters (46) and Top Form Athletics (17).
Savannah State finished the meet by winning gold in seven events, silver in a dozen events and bronze in seven events.
Meontavious McLeon won the 100m race with a time of 10.82 while
Shaun Eason (11.18) was second and
Yastremski Johnson (11.27) finished third.
In the 200m race,
Elijah Hardy won first place with a personal best time of 22.99 and
Ethan Hightower claimed second with a time of 23.20.
Kaden Christy was second in the 400m race with a time of 50.64 and
Jadon Rountree was second in the 1500m race after being clocked at 4:24.94.
Nyzaveon Thompson claimed first in the 400m hurdles with a run of 55.52 while
Cameron Frails (1:01.93) was second and
Eszaunie Earls (1:08.20) came in third.
Thompson also won the 110m hurdles after being timed at 15.96.
Kajuan Davis (16.09) was second and
Billy Johnson (16.38) came in third.
The 4x100m "A" relay team of
Tyler Phillips, McLeon, Davis and
Yastremski Johnson won their race with a time of 41.46 while SSU's "B" squad of Eason,
Kamari Kindle,
Jamari Norwood and Hightower came in second with their run of 42.89.
Raymond McKoy was second in the high jump with a leap of 1.93m while
Dominique Bailey (6.70m) and
Xavier Wilson (6.60m) were second and third in the long jump. Wilson's personal best score of 13.65m was good enough for second in the triple jump while
Billy Johnson came in third with his jump of 13.63m.
In the shot put,
Tony Rountree (13.43m) came in first while
Evan Guyton (12.63m) was second and
Matthew McWilliams (12.12) was third.
Guyton won the discus throw with a toss of 40.99m while McWilliams' throw of 38.98m was good enough for third.
Donovan Holdip claimed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.18m while
Jordan Scruggs was SSU's top finisher in the javelin with a personal best toss of 37.05m which was good enough for a fourth place finish.
