SOUTH FULTON, Ga.- The second day of action in the inaugural SIAC Fall Open at the South Fulton Tennis Center took place on Friday and featured 14 doubles matches and 31 singles matches.
Savannah State players
Madeleine Anne Nolan,
Sunzahra Liburd-Banks and
Katelynn Welch all advanced to the final day of competition.
In the singles Flight A, Nolan beat J. Brittain of Clark Atlanta (6-0, 6-2) and will advance to play A. Alexis of Edward Waters for fifth place.
In the singles Flight D, Liburd-Banks defeated A. Prevost of Edward Waters (6-0, 6-4) and will play A. Turnbough from Clark Atlanta for fifth place.
Welch defeated L. King from Lemoyne-Owen 7-5,6-3 in Flight F singles and will advance to play L. Viehrig from Edward Waters for fifth place.
In other singles matches,
Nyla Warner lost her fifth place match in Flight C to B. Powers 6-2, 6-1 and in Flight F, Amaia Conner lost her match to Viehrig from Edward Waters by scores of 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Savannah State's double team of Nolan and Warner lost to G. Blanks and A. Cameron from Tuskegee, 8-2 in Flight T. Nolan and Warner will play for third place on Saturday against C. Kpadonou from Benedict and K from LeMoyne-Owen.
In the fifth place match in Flight U, Banks and Welch fell to I. Jones / A.B. Hill from Spring Hill, 8-5.
