SOUTH FULTON, Ga.- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference welcomed teams from eight of its member institutions to the South Fulton Tennis Center on Thursday for the 2025 SIAC Men's and Women's Tennis Fall Open.
The inaugural tournament, which will be played October 16-18, will feature singles and doubles matches, with play set to begin at 9 a.m. ET each day.
Savannah State's
Madeleine Anne Nolan and
Nyla Warner advanced to the next round in the double action, following their 8-6 win over a team from Clark Atlanta on Thursday morning.
With the win, Nolan/Warner advance to play a team from Tuskegee on Friday at 9 a.m.
Sunzahra Liburd-Banks and
Katelynn Welch of SSU lost their doubles match to Clark Atlanta, 8-5.
Liburd-Banks/Welch will play a team from Edward Waters on Saturday in a extra match.
Savannah State lost all five of their singles matches.
Nolan lost to A. Dotse of Tuskegee (6-1,6-1), Warner lost to C. Kpadonou of Benedict (6-2,6-0), Banks lost to A. Cameron of Tuskegee (6-0,6-0), Amaia Conner fell to A.B. Hill of Spring Hill (6-2,6-2) and Welch lost to J. Williams of Clark Atlanta (6-0,6-0).
Conner and Welch will play each other on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and the winner will face the winner of the match between L. Viehrig (Edward Waters) and L. King (LeMoyne-Owen) on Saturday for fifth place.
