Champion Robbins, Enrico Peele Sweep SIAC Weekly Awards

ATLANTA, Ga. – Savannah State baseball swept the weekly Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) awards following a three-game series win over LeMoyne-Owen College last weekend.

Champion Robbins was named the SIAC Player of the Week and Enrico Peele was named the SIAC Pitcher of the Week.
 
The Tigers are tied with Florida Southern at No. 10 in this week's NCBWA South Region Poll—the region includes NCAA Division II teams from the SIAC, the Gulf South Conference (GSC) and the Sunshine State Conference (SSC).
 
Robbins batted a .667 average over the three-game series with LeMoyne-Owen, racking up eight hits, including two doubles, on 12 at bats with three runs and four RBI. Overall, this season, Robbins is batting .447 with 21 hits, including five doubles, to lead the Tigers from the plate.
 
Peele had yet another excellent outing this week, earning his second SIAC Player of the Week Award this season.
 
The junior right-hander led the Tigers to a 22-0 rout of LeMoyne-Owen College on Saturday, pitching 5.0 innings. He allowed no runs on three hits with one walk and six strikeouts against 19 batters. Peele is 3-1 on the season with a 2.95 ERA following 18.1 innings pitch.

Savannah State is 9-4 on the season and 5-1 in conference play and lead the SIAC East Division standings.
