Women's Cross Country

Chance, Roberts Lead Tigers In Dual XC Meet

Savannah, Ga. – Savannah State men's and women's cross country hosted the Fort Valley State teams on Friday in a dual Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) meet on the campus of Savannah State.
 
Reigning SIAC Women's Cross Country Champion Kayla Chance led the entire field in the women's 5K with a time of 18:48. Teammate Simone Johnson was close behind, running a 19:06 for a second place finish.
 
Sky Buie-Cox finished third with a time of 19:47 followed freshmen Langsten Lilly (22:41) and Kennedi Hall (24:04).
 
Erik Roberts led the Tigers in the men's 5K with a first place finish, running a 16:20. Myles Corey was on his heels, running a 16:24 for second place.
 
Following a full-on sprint to the finish line, Nyzaveon Thompson bested teammate Alex Loyd for a fifth place finish, running a 19:23. Lloyd ran a 19:24 for sixth place. Daeshaun Logan rounded out the scoring for Savannah State with a 23:44.
 
The dual meet closed out the regular season for the Savannah State men's and women's cross country teams. They head to the 2022 Cricket SIAC Cross Country Championship on Nov. 4 in Macon, Ga.
