XC Lady Tigers Finished Atop Standings In JWU Classic

Charlotte, N.C. – The Savannah State men's and women's cross country teams continued their 2022 season on Friday at the JWU Wildcat Classic, hosted by Johnson-Wales University.

The Lady Tigers finished fourth in the field of ten with a team score of 138 and a total time of 1:55:11.

Reigning Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Individual Women's Cross Country champion Kayla Chance led Savannah State with an eighth place finish in the individual race, running a 19:28.2.

Simone Johnson finished 17th with a time of 20:53:1 followed by Sky Buie-Cox (21:39.6), Lilly Langston (24:28.3) and Kennedi Hall (28:41.7).
The Tigers closed their second meet of the season in 10th place with a team score of 240 and a time of 2:50:27.

Erik Roberts led Savannah State with a time of 29:16.6 followed by Myles Corey (30:46.6), Joseph Hale (33:37.8) and Alex Loyd (37:12.2) and Nyzaveon Thompson (39:33.7).

The Savannah State cross country teams close out the regular season with a dual home meet against Fort Valley State this week before heading to the 2022 Cricket SIAC Cross Country Championship, set for Nov. 4 in Macon, Georgia.
