SAVANNAH, Ga.—Today, Tiger Arena will see a key inter-divisional Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) matchup between the 8-0, 3-0 SIAC Savannah State Lady Tigers (East Division) and 8-1, 2-1 SIAC Miles College Golden Bears (West Division).
 
The Lady Tigers are coming off a big win this past Thursday. They beat LeMoyne-Owen College in Tiger Arena 81-59. 
 
Savannah State is led by a trio of veterans. Le'Andrea Gillis is averaging 13.3 points a game. This week's SIAC Player of the Week, Bria Gibbs, is putting away 11.4 points a game and leads the team in rebounding with 6.1 boards an outing. Off the bench, Azhana Maxwell is averaging 10.4 points a game.
 
As a team, the Lady Tigers are shooting 47 percent from the field this season and outscoring opponents by an average margin of 25.6 points.
 
Miles enters today's game after handling Allen with ease on Monday (58-39) for their eighth win of the season. The previous Saturday, they were edge by SIAC East Division perennial power Benedict, 72-74. The Golden Bears are led in scoring by senior Sakina Wynn who's averaging 13.0 points a game.

CORRECTION: An version of this story stated the Lady Tigers set a new school record for most consecutive wins to open a season. That information was incorrect. The 1992-1993 team opened that season 11-0 under Phillip Wallace, now the head women's basketball coach at Miles College.
