Continuing our Inside the Tiger Den series, our new Meet the Team Q&A will introduce you to a number of Savannah State student-athletes over the course of the summer.
Julian Roberts | Sophomore | Savannah State Football
What is an interesting fact about yourself?
I'm a self-taught swimmer, I taught myself when I was about six years old because my siblings were older and would leave me in the shallow end of the pool to go swim in the deeper end.
What is your nickname and how did you get it?
Junior. I guess it stemmed from people not pronouncing my name correctly when I was younger.
What is something small that makes your day better?
When somebody surprises me with food.
Where is the most interesting place you've been?
New York City. I went for the first time last Christmas.
Who inspires you and why?
My mother, because I've seen how far she has come in life and when we/she faces adversity it never affects me and my siblings.
If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
That equity is to be present in all aspects of life. Fair and equal opportunity should be accessible to everyone no matter race, gender or religion.
What would be some of the most annoying things about having YOURSELF as a roommate?
Nothing, I feel like I'm a great roommate. I like silence most of the time, because I'm not very loud. Other than that, I'm a roommate that stays out the way.
Best advice anyone ever gave you?
You should always leave a place better than you found it and that's with anything you involve yourself in.
What is your 2020 goal?
Win a National Title for Savannah State University!
Why did you choose Savannah State?
I chose Savannah State because they continued to believe in me when other schools started to step back.
