SAVANNAH, Ga – The Savannah State women's basketball team opens the new year tonight with a non-conference warm-up game against the College of Coastal Georgia.

The Lady Tigers are coming off a 90-68 rout of Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Tuskegee University on December 21. After tonight, Savannah State heads out on the road for a four-game swing that includes three important SIAC matches against Lane College, Fort Valley State and Clark Atlanta.

They return home for two conference games against Benedict College on Jan. 25 and Paine College on Jan. 27.

SCOUTING REPORT
Lady Tigers
Savannah State's winning season is a product of having some of the best shooters in the SIAC. Â As a team, SSU has the top scoring offense in the conference, averaging 82.0 points per game and the second highest field goal percentage, pacing 46% from the field this year.

Le'Andrea Gillis leads SSU and the SIAC in scoring, averaging 20.7 points per game.
Ta'Kyla Austin is third in the SIAC (16.8 p/g).
Azhana Maxwell and
Amari Heard are also in the top 25 best scorers in the conference. Heard is the second-best rebounder in the SIAC, averaging 10.4 boards a game.

Mariners
Coastal Georgia is coming off a 65-60 win over Keiser University on December 7. They are currently 3-2 in the Sun Conference (NAIA Division). Quira Porter leads Coastal Georgia this season, averaging 12.1 points a game. Lynsey Washington follows with 11.5 pts/g, and Solrun Gisladott is putting up 11.2 pts/g. As a team, the Mariners are averaging 64.9 points per game this season.

In kind to SSU, Coastal Georgia returns home after tonight's game to host a two-game Sun Conference stand against St. Thomas University and Florida Memorial College.
