SAVANNAH, Ga – The Savannah State men's and women's basketball host their second Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader on Monday against Central State University.

After opening the season with three consecutive non-conference wins, the Savannah State women's basketball team dropped their first SIAC game on Saturday, falling to Kentucky State 69-73.

The Lady Tigers will look for some redemption going into tonight's SIAC contest with the untested Central State. The Lady Marauders open SIAC play tonight coming off a three-game losing streak.

Le'Andrea Gillis leads the Lady Tigers this season, averaging 22 points a game. Freshman
Amari Heard is having an outstanding first season with three consecutive double-doubles. She's averaging 12 points a game and 11 rebounds.
Newcomer Ta'Kyle Austin is averaging 17.5 points a game while returner
Azhana Maxwell has put up double digits in each game, averaging 13.5 an outing.

The Savannah State men's basketball team opened the season with two losses to NAIA teams, but came out strong in their SIAC opener on Saturday. The Tigers put on a dominating performance in Tiger Arena, beating Kentucky State 89-79.

Central State will open SIAC play against the Tigers tonight, coming off 94-75 nonconference win against Goshen College last week.
