SAVANNAH, Ga – The Savannah State women's basketball squad will get one more warm-up game on Wednesday before opening Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play against Kentucky State this weekend.

The Lady Tigers host Allen University in a non-conference, inter-divisional bout on the day before Thanksgiving. Savannah State Athletics is offering the game at free admission.

Savannah State opened the 2019-20 campaign with a 95-91 win over Fort Stewart in an exhibition game. They opened the regular season on Nov. 10 with a 103-51 rout of Carver College and on Nov. 15 earned a commanding 91-71 win against Morris College. Wednesday's game will mark the final non-conference game before a stretch of six consecutive SIAC games.

Fielding a handful of returners and some key newcomers, the Lady Tigers have a number of powerful offensive weapons this year. Leading the stats is returner Le'Andrea Gillis who has 52 points on the season. The sophomore is averaging 26.0 a game.

Newcomer Ta'Kyla Austin has made a mark in her transfer season with 40 points in two games, averaging 20.0 a game. Freshman Amari Heard is also in the double-digit scoring stats this season with 29 points, followed by sophomore Azhana Maxell (27) and returning center Alexus Bryant (21). Bryant also leads the team in rebounds with 22, averaging 11.0 a game. The Lady Tigers have no seniors this season.

The Lady Tigers host Kentucky State on Nov. 30 and Central State on Dec. 2 to open SIAC play before heading out on road to play Lemoyne-Owen College and Miles College on Dec. 14 and 16. They return home on Dec. 19 to face Spring Hill College.
