Lorman, Miss. – After a heartbreaking 19-24 loss to Charleston Southern last week, the Savannah State Tigers plan to bounce back against the 2018 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Champions, Alcorn State University, who compete as a NCAA Division I FCS team.
This is the second meeting of the teams. SSU lost to Alcorn, 6-34, in 1970 in their first meeting. The Braves are on a three-game winning streak. Until last week Savannah State had also stringed a similar run of wins.

Walter Yates, the Savannah State Tigers intend to reignite another streak this weekend. Alcorn State enters the contest 4-2 on the season after a 35-7 win against Alabama State.

PICKING 'EM OFF
SSU intercepted three passes against Charleston Southern. The last time a SSU defense intercepted three passes in a game was in 2017 against Delaware State where they intercepted four passes.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Tigers are playing the fourth game of a five-game road swing that started on September 21.

SWAC TERRITORY
The last time Savannah State faced a team from the Southwestern Athletic Conference was in 2010 when they Tigers played at Alabama State.

MAKING TURNOVERS COUNTÂ
Savannah State caused four turnovers against Charleston Southern and turned them all into points. A fumble recovery by
Walter Yates resulted in a
D'Vonn Gibbons touchdown run; an interception by Kiwan Harris resulted in a
D'Angelo Durham touchdown run; and interceptions by
Ny'em Bozeman and Yates resulted in field goals by
Giovanni Lugo.
