SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State University (SSU) held its 192nd Commencement Ceremony on April 4 and 5 in Tiger Arena where 39 student-athletes were awarded their college degree.

During the Graduate ceremony on April 4, SSU alumnus Van Johnson was the featured speaker while during the Undergraduate Ceremony on April 5, Savannah State alumnus Dr. Marion Orr was the speaker.

Headlining the group were
Justice Dilworth (volleyball), who received her Master of Business Administration degree and
Alee Quint (volleyball) and
Gregory Smith II (baseball) who both graduated Summa Cum Laude.

In total, 14 student-athletes graduated with honors. Two graduated Summa Cum Laude with at least a 3.75 grade point average, seven graduated Cum Laude with at least a 3.00 grade point average and five graduated Magna Cum Laude while having at least a 3.40 grade point average.

Eleven sports were represented at the graduation. 15 football players earned degrees followed by men's basketball who had five. Men's track and baseball had four athletes to earn degrees while women's basketball had three and volleyball and women's track both had two. Softball, women's tennis, women's golf and cheerleaders had one graduate each.

Tino Smith II (mass communications),
Edward Goubadia (political science), Avon Jordan (political science),
Christopher Johnson (sociology),
Deandre Vickers (sociology) and
Chidi Onwuzuruoha (electronics engineering technology).

Alante Fenner,
Joshua Floyd,
Maricus Glenn and
Javaris Jenkins all earned degrees in interdisciplinary studies.

Donterious Copeland earned his degree in management while teammates in men's track
Andre Houser-Cross,
Antwuan Poole and
Johvonte Singleton received degrees in homeland security.

Alex Pierce (computer science technology).

Lauryn Fields (behavior analysis),
Taylor-Ashley Shaw (mass communications) and
Charmia Graham (civil engineering technology).

Women's track was represented by Maria Elmore (behavior analysis) and
Ravyn Mike (mass communications).

Megan Washington (history) also earned their undergraduate degree.

Graduating Magna Cum Laude were Copeland, McKenna, Shaw, Hunt and Kateb while graduated Tolbert, Fields, Dukes, Houser-Cross, Floyd, Singleton and Wilson graduated Cum Laude.
