SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (4-21, 1-12 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) concludes a three-game roadstand with a trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., to face the MEAC leader Bethune-Cookman University (21-4, 13-0 MEAC) Saturday at 2 p.m.
Junior forward
Kaylee Allen leads the Lady Tigers with 16.6 points per game, which ranks second in the MEAC, and averages 5.8 rebounds. The Cincinnati, Ohio native averages 20.0 points, which leads the conference, and 7.5 rebounds, which ranks 10
th, in the MEAC in conference play.
Freshman center
Alexxus Sowell leads the team with 8.2 rebounds per game, which ranks sixth in the MEAC and leads with 2.5 blocks per game, which ranks second in the conference and ranks 23
rd in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In conference play, Sowell averages 8.9 rebounds, which ranks fifth in the MEAC, and is second in the conference with 3.5 blocks.
BCU has won the last 13 games, including an overtime win, 64-57, at Morgan State the last time out. The Wildcats are led by Angel Golden with 16.0 points per game, Chasimmie Brown with 10.7 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game and Ashanti Hunt with 9.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game.
The Lady Tigers return home for the home finale against North Carolina Central University Monday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
