SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (4-20, 1-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) continues a three-game roadstand with Hampton University (13-13, 9-4 MEAC) Monday at 5 p.m. in Hampton, Va.
Junior forward
Kaylee Allen leads the Lady Tigers with 17.0 points per game, which ranks second in the MEAC, and averages 5.8 rebounds. The Cincinnati, Ohio native averages 21.0 points, which leads the conference, and 7.7 rebounds, which ranks ninth in the MEAC in conference play. Allen is coming off a career-high 32-point performance at Norfolk State and set a school-record of seven made three pointers in a game in the Division I era.
Freshman center
Alexxus Sowell leads the team with 8.3 rebounds per game, which ranks fifth in the MEAC and leads with 2.5 blocks per game, which ranks second in the conference and ranks 23
rd in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In conference play, Sowell averages 9.2 rebounds, which ranks fifth in the MEAC, and leads the conference with 3.6 blocks.
Hampton has won the last two games and are led by Monnazjea Finney-Smith with 12.1 points per game and with 6.3 rebounds per game, while Jephany Brown is averaging 10.8 points and 4.6 rebounds and Allina Starr is averaging 9.7 points and 5.4 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers conclude the roadstand with a trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., to face MEAC leader Bethune-Cookman University Saturday at 2 p.m.
