SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (4-19, 1-10 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) starts a three-game roadstand with Norfolk State University (14-9, 7-4 MEAC) Saturday in Norfolk, Va., at 4 p.m.
Junior forward
Kaylee Allen leads the Lady Tigers with 16.3 points per game, which ranks third in the MEAC, and averages 5.9 rebounds. The Cincinnati, Ohio native averages 20.0 points, which leads the conference, and 7.9 rebounds, which ranks tied for eighth in the MEAC in conference play.
Freshman center
Alexxus Sowell leads the team with 8.0 rebounds per game, which ranks fifth in the MEAC and leads with 2.4 blocks per game, which ranks second in the conference and ranks 24
th in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In conference play, Sowell averages 8.8 rebounds, which ranks eighth in the MEAC, and leads the conference with 3.9 blocks.
Norfolk State lost four of the first five games since play Savannah State, but has won back-to-back games. The Spartans are led by Kayla Roberts with 14.4 points per game and with 7.3 rebounds per game, while Alexys Long adds 10.9 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game and Raven Russell is averaging 10.8 points and 5.0 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers stay in Virginia to face Hampton University Monday at 5 p.m.
