SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (2-16, 0-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) finishes a two-game roadstand with a trip to Tallahassee, Fla., to face Florida A&M University (4-16, 2-5 MEAC) Wednesday in Al Lawson Center.
Junior forward
Kaylee Allen leads the Lady Tigers with 15.1 points per game, which ranks third in the MEAC, and averages 5.9 rebounds. The Cincinnati, Ohio native averages 19.3 points, which ranks third in the conference, and 8.2 rebounds, which ranks tied for sixth in the MEAC in conference play. In her last two games, Allen is averaging 27.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, including careers with 30 points and 15 rebounds the last time out at Delaware State Saturday.
Freshman center
Alexxus Sowell leads the team with 7.7 rebounds per game, which ranks sixth in the MEAC and leads with 2.0 blocks per game, which ranks third in the conference. In conference play, Sowell averages 8.1 rebounds, which ranks 11
th in the MEAC, and leads the conference with 3.1 blocks.
The Rattlers have lost nine of the last 11 games and are led by Florence Quattara with 14.1 points per game and averages 4.4 rebounds, while Shalaunda Burney-Robinson averages 9.7 points and 7.8 rebounds and Shakeyrra Morrison averages 7.2 points and 8.7 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers return home to start a four-game homestand with South Carolina State University (7-13, 2-6 MEAC) Saturday at 4 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
