· · The Tigers welcome the Howard University Bison to Tiger Arena on Monday night for a home Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matchup.
 
Game Notes:
Tiger Bites
· SSU enters the game looking to improve on their 1-0 conference home record. With Saturday's win over UMES, SSU increased their homee MEAC opener record to 7-0.

· This is the 2nd of a four-game home stand. SSU is coming off a seven-game road swing in which they accumulated a 1-6 record. SSU looks to improve on their 3-2 home record during this stretch.

· SSU leads the nation in three point attempts with 725. The Tigers are in the top 10 nationally in: steals per game (7th) averaging 9.4; three-point field goals per game (4th) averaging 11.8; total 3-pointers made (5th) with 213; total steals (7th) with 170; and turnovers forced (8th) averaging 17.78.

TIGERS IN CONFERENCE
The Tigers are second in the conference in total points with 1,421 and points per game with 78.9, trailing only behind Bethune-Cookman in those categories. The Bison are eighth in MEAC scoring averaging 70.2 points per game and having scored 1,333 points total.
 
MEAC DEAN OF COACHES
Horace Broadnax is the Dean of MEAC basketball coaches. He is in his 12th year at the helm of the SSU program
 
MOVING BACK DOWN
In April 2017, the Savannah State administration made the decision to move SSU athletics from Division I to Division II. The move will become effective following the 2018-19 season.
 
PRESEASON HONORS
Dexter McClanahan was named the preseason MEAC all-conference second team.
 
MCCLANAHAN LEADING SSU
Dexter McClanahan is 7th in the conference in three-point field goals made with 40 and is averaging 2.2 made threes per game. McClanahan is also 12th in the conference in scoring averaging 13.7 ppg.
 
TOUGH SCHEDULE
SSU's non-conference schedule features five teams that are ranked in the AP Top 25 poll (Michigan State, Wichita State, Cincinnati, Baylor and Texas A&M)
 
CONFERENCE CLASH—SSU will play teams from 11 different Division I conferences (MEAC, American, Southern, Sun Belt, Ohio Valley, SWAC, Big 12, Colonial, Southeastern, Atlantic Coast and Big 10
 
SIGHT SEEING—SSU will play games in 12 different states this season (Ohio, Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas, Kansas, Georgia, Virginia, Michigan, Maryland, Delaware, Florida and South Carolina).
 
SSU Division I
Savannah State University made the decision to move from Division II to Division I in 1998, while opting to leave the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and become independent of conference affiliation. SSU played their first season as a Division I institution in 2002 when the NCAA granted full membership. The Tigers are currently playing as members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
 
MEMORY LANE
50 years ago the 1967-68 SSU team posted a 19-9 record, averaged 97.1 points and game and had five players finish the year averaging in double figures in scoring. The team scored at least 102 points in 13 games.
