SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (2-6) continues the six-game roadstand with the National Collegiate Athletic Association defending National Champions No. 4 University of South Carolina Sunday at 3 p.m. in Colonial Life Arena.
Junior forward Kaylee Allen leads the Lady Tigers with 13.6 points per game, which ranks fifth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, and averages 4.0 rebounds, while junior guard Donasja Scott averages 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds.
Freshman center Alexxus Sowell leads the team with 9.1 rebounds per game, which ranks second in the MEAC, while freshman guard Heniaya Moton averages 8.4 points and 1.0 assists.
South Carolina's only loss came against No. 6 Notre Dame 92-86 and has won the last three games. The Gamecocks are led by Aja Wilson with 24.0 points per game and with 11.5 rebounds per game, Lindsey Spann is averaging 13.6 points and Alexis Jennings is averaging 12.9 points and 6.8 rebounds.
This will be the final of a three-game stretch against Power Five teams and the second consecutive ranked opponent that the Lady Tigers have faced. South Carolina has won all previous nine meetings against Savannah State.
The Lady Tigers travel to Greenville, N.C., to face East Carolina University Wednesday at 7 p.m., the final game before Christmas.
