NORFOLK, Va.- The Savannah State University football program had 16 student-athletes named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Academic team for the 2015-2016 academic school year.
The 16 student-athletes honored were

Ellison Burns III, Brandon Burns-Carswell,
Kendarius Dukes,
Daniel Foster,
David Handler,
Ronald Harrell,
Jeremiah Harris, Jr.,
Anthony Hunt,
Marcus Lee, Jr.,
James Livingston,
Giovanni Lugo,
Raydell Martin,
Johvonte Singleton,
Juwuan Tolbert and Johnathan Wilson.
The MEAC recognizes student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, including sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as transfer student-athletes, who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year.
The 156 student-athletes who achieved academic success during the 2015-16 school year were on the 2016 MEAC Football Academic All-Conference team. Delaware State led all conference schools with 28 players on this year's list. SSU ranked third behind Bethune-Cookman who had 21.
