SAVANNAH, Ga. – With Hurricane Matthew expecting to hit Savannah this weekend, the Savannah State University women's tennis team heads to Macon, Ga., for the final fall tournament of the season, hosted by Mercer University.
The tournament starts on Friday and finishes on Sunday. The tournament field includes: Alabama State University, Emory University, Georgia Southern University, Florida A&M University, Florida Southern College, Georgia Southern University, Mercer and Middle Georgia State University.
The Lady Tigers will have five competing in the tournament with three seniors of
Sandy Lochu,
Jennyfer Vivas and
Bria Burrows and sophomore
Rachida El Kateb and freshman
Lili-Morgan Pastore.
Lochu will compete in Draw A and face Michelle Satterfield of Emory in the first round, while Pastore plays in Draw B and faces another Emory player of Daniela Lopez in the first round.
El Kateb plays in Draw C and faces Shelby Ashley of Middle Georgia in the first round, while Vivas and Burrows plays in Draw D. Vivas faces Laura Cocoma of Middle Georgia in the first round and Burrows faces Daniela Nino of Middle Georgia in the first round.
Fresh of their doubles consolation win at the Georgia Southern Invitational, Lochu and El Kateb pairs up to face Georgia Southern's double team of Ella Monsey and Nicole Gilner at 10 a.m. Friday in the first round.
Burrows and Vivas pair up to face Florida A&M doubles duo of Elizabeth Clayton and Kiara Shaw at 10 a.m. Friday in the first round.
