Box Score NORFOLK, Va.- Despite placing five players in double figures, the Savannah State men's basketball team suffered a 92-73 setback to Norfolk State in a game played at Echols Hall before a crowd of 1,812.

The Spartans started the game with a 13-2 run and were never threatened.

Savannah State whittled their deficit to 17-8 with 11:15 on the clock but a 20-8 run by NSU gave the Spartans a 37-16 edge with 4:26 on the clock.

The Tigers finished the half with a 10-3 spurt and went into intermission trailing 40-26.

Norfolk State started the second period much like the first as they used a 21-8 run to build a 61-34 cushion with 14:29 remaining.

A 3-pointer by
Dexter McClanahan cut SSU's deficit to 22 with 8:44 left but Norfolk State responded with ten straight points to get their largest lead of the evening at 81-49 with just over seven minutes left.

Down by 29 with 4:50 showing on the clock, Savannah State finished the contest with a 15-5 surge where five different players scored.

Chris Martin led the Tigers (7-11, 3-4 MEAC) with 16 points. McClanahan added 15,
Troyce Manassa had 14 points and 6 rebounds,
Isaiah Feldercontributed 12 points and
Brian Pearson chipped in 11 points.

The Tigers shot 41.7 percent from the field but were out-rebounded 35 to 29.

Charles Oliver paced NSU with 25 points as he made 6 of 8 of his 3-point attempts.

The Spartans (10-12, 6-1 MEAC) shot 47.1 percent from the field and made 30 of 35 free throw attempts.

Savannah State fell to 0-9 on the road this season....
Dexter McClanahan and
Isaiah Felder both had career high games with McClanahan scoring 15 points and Felder scoring 12.....
Lenjo Kilo was held to three points after entering the game scoring in double figures in his previous four contests.
Norfolk State remained in reach of first place in the conference with the win...The Spartans tied a school record with 14 made 3-pointers.....Charles Oliver is averaging 21 points in his last four games.
