SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (5-10, 2-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) concludes its season-high five-game homestand against Delaware State University (4-12, 1-2 MEAC) in Tiger Arena Monday at 6 p.m.
 
SSU is 3-1 on the current homestand with wins over Allen University (72-46), North Carolina Central (57-39) and Maryland Eastern Shore (60-42) with its only loss to North Carolina A&T State (69-59).
 
Last season, the Lady Tigers defeated Delaware State 76-45 on Jan. 19 in Dover, Del., in the only meeting during the season. 
 
After 15 games, the Lady Tigers are shooting .361 (288-for-797) from the floor, including shooting .282 (58-for-206) from the 3-point line.  SSU is averaging 50.3 points per game, 35.1 rebounds per game and have recorded 146 assists, 144 steals and 62 blocks.  SSU is averaging 9.6 steals per game, which ranks first in the MEAC and 59th in the NCAA and is holding opponents to a .368 field goal percentage, which ranks second in the MEAC and 66th in the NCAA.
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix leads the Lady Tigers with 10.3 points per game and has recorded a .317 (53-for-167) shooting from the floor, including shooting .272 (25-for-92) from the 3-point line.  The Carrollton, Ga., native has recorded 685 career points and needs 29 points to move into eight place in school history in the Division I era.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis had a huge week last week, averaging 13.0 points per game, 8.5 rebounds per game, 6.5 blocks per game, 2.0 assists per game and 1.0 steals per game.   The Athens, Ga., native shot 6-for-7 against North Carolina Central for 12 points with nine rebounds, seven blocked shots, two assists and two steals and went 7-for-10 against Maryland Eastern Shore for 14 points with eight rebounds, six blocks and two assists.
 
Davis leads the team with 6.6 rebounds per game and with 2.9 blocks per set, which ranks first in the MEAC and 16th in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.  Her 43 blocks this season ranks second in the MEAC and 21st in the NCAA.
 
Davis needs four made field goals to move into eight place in school history.  She currently has 256 made field goals for a career shooting percentage of .552. 
 
The last time out, the Lady Tigers defeated Maryland Eastern Shore 60-42 in Tiger Arena Saturday.  Davis led the team with 14 points on 7-for-10 shooting and with eight rebounds and with six blocks, while junior guard Taylor-Ashley Shaw added nine points on 4-for-6 shooting with three rebounds and three steals.  Junior forward Jeremica Edwards and sophomore Lauryn Fields each added eight points, while Edwards added six rebounds and Fields shot 3-for-4 from the floor with two rebounds and three assists.  Hendrix led the team with five assists and added seven points and three rebounds.
 
DSU has lost four its last five games with its only win at home against Howard 87-86 on Jan. 11.  The Lady Hornets fell to South Carolina State 61-48 on Saturday their last time out. 
 
The Lady Hornets are led by Amber Bogard with 11.9 points per game and is averaging 4.4 rebounds per game, while Mikah Aldridge is averaging 11.4 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game.  NaJai Pollard leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game and is averaging 10.1 points per game.
 
The Lady Tigers start a four-game roadstand against Hampton, Va., on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Hampton, Va.
