SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (2-5) travels to Jacksonville, Ala., to face Ohio Valley Conference opponent Jacksonville State (3-6) Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Pete Mathews Coliseum.
 
The last time these two schools meet was in 2009 when the Lady Tigers defeated the Gamecocks 51-37.
 
After seven games, the Lady Tigers are shooting .333 (124-for-372) from the floor, including shooting .296 (29-for-98) from the 3-point line.  SSU is averaging 47.7 points per game, 35.3 rebounds per game and has recorded 63 assists, 64 steals and 29 blocks. 
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix leads the Lady Tigers with 12.4 points per game, which ranks seventh in the MEAC, and has recorded a .357 (30-for-84) shooting from the floor, including shooting .326 (15-for-46) from the 3-point line.  Hendrix is shooting .750 (12-for-16) from the free throw line and is averaging 2.9 rebounds per game, 0.4 blocks per game and 0.6 steals per game.  The Carrollton, Ga., native ranks 10th in school history with 617 points in the Division I era and third in school history with 96 made 3-pointers.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game and 2.86 blocks per set, which ranks first in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and 17th in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.  Her 20 blocks on the season, also ranks first in the MEAC and 37th in the NCAA.
 
The last time out, the Lady Tigers fell to Big Ten opponent Rutgers 65-26 Sunday in Piscataway, N.J.  Hendrix led SSU with 14 points, including 12 points in the third quarter on 4-for-5 shooting from the 3-point line, while Davis and sophomore forward Shanikwa Buie each added six rebounds.  Davis also added three blocks and Buie added five points.
 
Jacksonville State has won two of the last three games, including an overtime loss at Georgia Southern 60-56, while the Gamecocks are 3-1 at home.  JSU is shooting .361 (180-for-498), including .302 (97-for-155) from the 3-point line.  The Gamecocks are averaging 57.7 points per game and 33.1 rebounds per game with 96 assists, 52 steals and 28 blocks.
 
The Gamecocks are led by Gretchen Morrison with 11.0 points per game, while Briana Benson is averaging 10.9 points per game and 3.2 rebounds per game.  Tyler Phelion is leading the team with 6.8 rebounds per game and is averaging 8.5 points per game.
 
The Lady Tigers travels to Stillwater, Okla., to face Big 12 opponent Oklahoma State Sunday, Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. ET.
