Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- After shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half, Savannah State's offense went cold in the second period in a 62-59 loss to North Carolina A&T.
 
The crowd of 1,755 witnessed the Tigers go eight scoreless minutes to start the second half which allowed A&T to build a 38-30 lead.
 
A free throw by 
Terel Hall broke SSU's scoreless drought with 12 minutes left.
 
The Tigers didn't make a field goal until 
Saadiq Muhammad's layup at the 8:41 mark.
 
After Denzel Keye's layup with just under five minutes left gave A&T a 51-41 advantage, Savannah State made a run to trim their deficit to 60-59 with 22 seconds remaining.
 
Javaris Jenkins' keyed the Tigers spurt with a pair of 3-pointers and three free throws.
 
Jenkins picked up his fifth foul of the evening with 20 seconds on the clock, fouling James Whitaker.
 
Whitaker made one of two free throw attempts to put the Aggies ahead 61-59.
 
With four seconds left, the 6-1 Hall drove to the basket but his shot was blocked by Steve Burroughs, who is six-foot-nine.
 
The final points of the contest came from a Amhad Abdullah free throw with seconds remaining.
 
 Jenkins came off the bench to lead the Tigers offense with 11 points.
 
Alante Fernner and 
Jamal Norman each added 10 points. Muhammad chipped in nine points and a team-high five rebounds.
 
Despite going 8 of 23 from the floor in the second period, the Tigers (5-16, 1-6) ended the game shooting 42.2 percent.
 
A&T led 8-7 at the 13:49 mark but Savannah State answered with a 9-3 run to grab a 17-10 lead at the halfway mark of the first half.
 
The Aggies rallied to tie the game at 18 but seven unanswered points by SSU gave the Tigers a 25-18 lead with 3:30 remaining.
 
SSU led 30-28 at the half.
 
Abdullah had 17 points to carry the Aggies (6-17, 3-6).
 
A&T out-rebounded SSU 31 to 26 and shot 38.1 percent from the field.
