SAVANNAH, Ga.- MEACFansZone recently released their 2014 HBCU Football Class Rankings and Savannah State University was selected as the fifth best recruiting class among all historically black colleges and universities.

Of the 21 schools ranked, Southern University was selected as the top recruiting class. Rounding out the top five were Florida A&M followed by Tennessee State, Texas Southern and SSU.

Head coach Earnest Wilson and staff signed 38 players to letters of intent and earned a B+ grade from MEACFansZone.

According to MEACFansZone, the biggest recruit for the Tigers was wide receiver
Jaylen McGriff (6-1, 190). The Brentwood, Tennessee native comes to SSU from Fork Union Military Academy. McGriff is one of three signees who are following in the footsteps of their fathers who also played at SSU.

Newark, New Jersey native Daniel McKoy is expected to be an early impact player. The 6-4, 310 rising junior offensive lineman comes to SSU from ASA College.

Incoming freshman quarterback
Michael Knox is viewed as a sleeper and could surprise many. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Knox (6-4, 205) was an all-state athlete at C A Johnson High School in football and basketball. As a senior, Knox passed for 1,804 yards and 13 touchdowns while rushing for 1,012 yards and five touchdowns.
