Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State had three players in double figures but it would not be enough as North Carolina Central made 35 of 41 free throws in a 76-62 win over SSU in Tiger Arena.

The Eagles converted 17 of 19 free throws in the opening 20 minutes and made 18 of 22 attempts in the second period.

Savannah State finished the game shooting 77.8 percent (21 of 27) from the free throw line.

NCCU scored the first four points of the contest and jumped out to a 10-2 advantage.

A 3-pointer by
Jeremiah Hill followed by a layup from
Hikeem Champaigne pulled the Tigers within three but the crowd of 1,230 saw the visitors' Jordan Parks nail two free throws and a 3-pointer for a 15-7 lead.

Deven Williams made a 3-pointer for Savannah State with 6:44 on the clock to trim the SSU deficit to 22-20 but a 15-7 spurt by NCCU put the Eagles ahead 37-27 with 1:19 left.

The Tigers made 52 percent of their shots from the floor in the first half but trailed 39-31 at intermission.

Jay Copeland made a layup for Central with 15:59 left to a 11 point lead. The Eagles did not make another field goal until Jeremy Ingram hit a 3-pointer with 8:58 remaining which gave NCCU a 56-45 lead.

SSU had scoring chances during that stretch but could only get as close as eight points.

Following Ingram's 3-pointer, Alfonzo Houston made a layup and a free throw and Ingram followed with a layup to give NCCU their largest lead of the game at 61-45 with 6:52 left.

Savannah State trailed by10 points with 2:10 left but Central added six consecutive points to put away any thoughts of a SSU comeback.

Williams had 18 points for the Tigers (9-17, 7-5) while Josh Montgomery had 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Keierre Richards chipped in 10 points while seldom used Beau Carter came off the bench to contribute a career-high eight points.

Central (20-5, 11-1) was led by Ingram's 38 points. Ingram made 10 field goals and hit 16 of 17 free throws attempts. Copeland added 17 points and 12 rebounds.
 The Eagles shot 40.4 percent from the field and out-rebounded SSU 35 to 27.
