THE GAME:
Savannah State will get their first MEAC road test with back-to-back match-ups against Coppin State and Howard this weekend. SSU is coming off a record setting 106-33 win over Trinity Baptist this past Monday in Savannah, in their final nonconference game of the 2013-14 campaign.
The Lady Tigers and the Coppin State Eagles each have one conference win coming into Saturday's match up. SSU beat Maryland Eastern Shore, 63-46, and Coppin State beat Delaware State 80-75.
With Monday's win, the Lady Tigers surpassed last season's total win record. They are 8-7 overall this year, after going 7-23 during the 2012-13 season.
The Lady Tigers are led by senior Ezinne Kalu. The Newark, N.J. native is averaging 15.6 points per outing, and has 219 points this season. Behind Kalu are a host of offensive weapons.
Kenyata Hendrix, Jasmine Norman and Jasmine Kirkland are all averaging over 8 points per game. Bria Dorsey is averaging over 7 points per game and Tiyonda Davis leads the team in rebounds with 7.5 per game (112 overall) and is averaging 6.5 points per game.
