THE GAME:
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Lady Tigers play their home opener of the 2013 season against regional rival The Citadel. SSU is still looking for their first win of the season after losses to Tulane and Radford set the team back 0-15 this past weekend.

Some key injuries to up-and-coming freshman have hindered the 2013 squad, but SSU has found strength in their upperclassman. They are led on offense by senior Bryana Gadis and sophomore Bianca Brochu, who are both averaging 1.41 kills per set with 65 kills overall. Gadis also leads the team on defense with 94 digs, averaging 2.04 per set.

Sophomore Christian Lyle is having a strong season as well. The Savannah native is averaging 1.17 kills per game (54 overall) and leads the team in blocks with 22.

SSU opens Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play this weekend with home matches against Florida A&M (Friday, 6 p.m.) and Bethune-Cookman (Sunday, 1 p.m.).

This is the 28th season of volleyball at Savannah State. Interim head coach Jolanta Graham enters her first full year at the helm. Graham took over midway through the 2012 season. The Lady Tigers are a 10 person squad this year with six returners and four newcomers.
